Keep Choosing Jesus

Everyday we are faced with choices. We choose what to eat, what to think, what to say, what to wear, the list can go on. Then at times, there are even bigger choices, like where should I live or work? When should I retire? Choices that seem like no big deal to some people can be life changing for others. But no matter how small or how big, the choices we make will have some type of impact.

We as Christians must remember that our choices must be guided by the truth of God’s Word. We need godly wisdom so that we make choices that will glorify Jesus. It can be tempting to do what’s easy or most comfortable, but we have to keep choosing Jesus in all we say and do. He will empower us. When we are unsure or feel confused, He is only a prayer away. He will show us the way if we ask; then we must obey His instructions.

Hope For Our Fears

1 John 4:18 NIV, “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.”

Fear is sometimes a natural response when we feel something is beyond our control. Our minds can run wild imagining the worst possible outcomes. In those moments or days where we experience fear, learning to make prayer our first response can be difficult, but it is necessary. Prayer allows us to cast our fears and worries upon God, and receive His help. It gives God the opportunity to give us guidance and open our eyes to see things from His perspective. Through prayer, He will intervene on our behalf. Knowing that God loves us perfectly will bring peace to our hearts and calm our fears, even in life’s toughest situations. When our hope is Him, we can overcome our fears.

Boundaries Are Good

Exodus 19:12 NLT, “Mark off a boundary all around the mountain. Warn the people, ‘Be careful! Do not go up on the mountain or even touch its boundaries. Anyone who touches the mountain will certainly be put to death.”

Just like He did with the Israelites in this verse, God also sets boundaries in our lives. He knows that certain actions, situations, or people will lead us down the path of destruction. We have to trust God, and believe that He only wants what is best for us. He is all wise and all knowing, and we can not let our own desires, curiosity, or impatience cause us to disobey the Lord.

Something may seem right from our view, but God knows it is not right for us; He can see the big picture, so we must trust His wisdom. Godly well balanced boundaries are good, pray and ask God to help you create and maintain healthy boundaries in your life.

Welcome Godly Advice

Proverbs 11:14 NASB, “Where there is no guidance the people fall, But in an abundance of counselors there is victory.”

We all need people in our lives who can help us to stay on the right track, people who will advise us according to God’s Word, people who are walking in His truth. In fact, the Bible warns us not to seek counsel from ungodly people (Psalm 1:1). Trying to live for Christ by ourselves is not the way God intended it to be, we must pray for one another and keep one another encouraged. We must also pray for those in authority, that God will help them to make wise decisions. May we all help each other to stay on that narrow path that leads to life (Matthew 7:14).

Keep Giving Love

1 John 4:19 NIV, “We love because he first loved us.”

When loving people, especially difficult people, gets hard, this simple yet powerful verse reminds us of the love God has for us. Because of His love for us, we should give others love too. His love in our lives, enables us to extend mercy and compassion to others. Where would we be if God did not first love us? How many ways has his love changed our lives? The fact that God loves us and puts His love for us first, before all things, including our sins, is a reason to rejoice! Love is the reason Jesus died for our sins (John 3:16, Romans 8:9). May we honor God by loving others in a way that brings Him glory. His love endures forever.

Trust God, Embrace Change

Jeremiah 29:11 NIV, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

I have been thinking a lot lately about how the Lord sometimes brings change into our lives to bless us. Change allows us to experience new things. I came across this post by Vivian, “Step Into The Unknown”, it was an inspiring reminder not to be afraid to go where God is leading you. When things change, we can trust God to use the changes to work out what is best for us. It is part of His plan. Change can be scary at first, but knowing God is with us as we go through the change brings peace and joy.

Change can lead to the desires of our heart that we have been praying for. At times, God answers our prayers in unexpected ways. Life’s greatest adventures sometimes come when we are willing to make changes, some big and some small. Trust God and embrace change.

Cling to God’s Word

Psalm 119:105 NLT, “Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.”

This verse is a reminder that we need to cling to the Word of God, the Holy Bible. His Word teaches us His truth and guides us as we navigate this life. It convicts us when we are wrong and confirms us when we are right. It comforts us when we are sad, and strengthens us when we are weak. It fills our hearts with joy and gives us hope for each day. It assures us of God’s unconditional love. Everyday we need to feast upon His Word. His Word will stand forever (Isaiah 40:8).
