This is Love

1 John 4:10, “This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.”

To love someone who doesn’t love you back takes sacrifice, and that is what Jesus did for us. He loved us and died for us before we were even born. The love He has for us is unconditional, not based on our performance. He set an example for us through the love He has shown. Through His example, we can learn to love others, especially those who are difficult to love. After all, there could be times when we were the ones who were difficult to love, and someone in our lives made a sacrifice and loved us anyway, even if we did not realize it. When we make sacrifices to walk in love, we are true followers of Jesus Christ.

  1. We have been looking at God’s love over a couple of weeks at church. Dwelling on this – Accepting His sacrificial and unconditional love is one thing but the true evidence of His sanctification in us, is the extension of that sacrificial and unconditional love towards others. That is so much harder. He loved us first and showed us how to love and accepting that is the best thing.
