He Knows Your Name

Isaiah 43:1-2 ESV, “….Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.”

Fear not! God is with you through it all. He has promised to never leave your side. He will not allow you to be overtaken by evil when you keep your hand in His. Every tribulation that you must endure, He will strengthen you to do so. In your weakness, His strength is made perfect. He is upright and just in all His ways. His wisdom far surpasses our limited understanding.

He loves you with an everlasting love and He will never fail you. No matter what you are going through, He is still God and He knows your name.

  1. Look at the Lord! I actually just read this verse this morning in my devotional read.

“Let God tell you who you are!
His mother called his name Jabez.” 1Ch 4:9 NKJV

The name Jabez means “pain and trouble.” Can you imagine walking into a room and hearing someone say, “Here comes trouble,” or someone describing you as “a pain”? And what’s more, Jabez’ mother labelled him that way the day he was born because “she gave birth to him in pain.” But Jabez refused to wear the label or let that name define him. Instead of looking back at his past and listening to his critics, he turned to God and prayed: “‘Oh, that You would bless me…and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!’ So God granted him what he requested” (v. 10 NKJV). The label on the outside of a bottle tells you what’s on the inside. And when you let others label you, invariably they make your world too small. And once you accept the label they place on you, you start to believe that’s who you are and that you’ll never amount to anything more than that. No, only God can tell you who you are! So do what Jabez did—go directly to the source: God. He created you. He redeemed you. He calls you. He equips you. He empowers you. He rewards you. So when people try to limit you by putting labels on you, God steps in and says, “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are Mine” (Isa 43:1 NKJV). The truth is that God loves and accepts you, and His approval trumps everybody else’s disapproval!.

Thank you for this reminder Dawn. God bless you 🙏🏿😊

  2. Thank you Dawn for these words of encouragement and reminder!

Sometimes we can wonder if anyone knows we exist or does anyone really care. I have been plagued these thoughts. But having the reassurance that someone does know my name–the Lord–knows me and cares for me. And, that’s enough!

  3. Dawn, I was looking back over awards and tags I have done in the past to record in my book who I tagged (trying to not over tag or leave anyone out), and as I came across one called Answering 30 Interesting Questions 3.4.19 I noticed I really didn’t tag anyone. While I was exhausted from medical procedures and therapies, I really wanted to tag someone because God has always had me share to encourage others. We haven’t got to talk as much as I would like, so I am tagging you to try and catch up a little. If you do not feel like doing it (I know it’s long) that is ok. I’m still trying to remember who is award free or not, and tag free or not. Just please know you are thought of, loved, and prayed for. God cherishes you!
