Stand Firm in Your Faith

1 Peter 5:8-9 NIV, “8 Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 9 Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.”

As believers in the body of Christ, we will all endure test, trials, and tribulations. There is no way around it. However it brings strength, encouragement and comfort to know that as believers we are never alone. Not only is the Holy Spirit with us, we also have one another. We all share a common goal of fulfilling God’s purpose here on Earth. We all share a common hope of spending eternity in heaven with Jesus once our work on Earth is done.

As we go through the pages of God’s Word, we also can read the many stories of triumph and perseverance of those who came before us. Their faith in God helped pave the way for us today and set an example for us to follow.

There may be times in your walk with God where you do feel isolated. Unfortunately it’s possible to have these feelings of isolation even with other Christians around, because different Christians are in different stages in their walk with God. Plus everyone has different challenges they are facing.

I pray that if you do feel alone, that God will send the right fellow believers your way that you can connect with. I also pray that you would be refreshed and find endless hope, joy, and satisfaction in our Lord Jesus.

Jeremiah 31:25 NIV, “I will refresh the weary and satisfy the faint.”

Above all else, stand firm in the faith. Don’t give up the fight. As believers, we are all headed home to eternity. But until that blessed day arrives, may our lives be an example of God’s love to those around us. May we share the message of hope and restoration that has been made available through Jesus Christ.

Have a wonderful day!

  1. Very encouraging, Dawn!! I watched a Priscilla Shirer video yesterday and she said, “Everybody is going through something. You are either in the midst of it, coming out of something, or just going into something.” It’s so true. Jesus told us that we will have trouble. In my quiet time this morning I was reading in 1 Corinthians 12 about the body of Christ. How each is a different part, but how we are ONE. You are right about encouraging others!! Thank you so much, and I’m thankful you are here to encourage me!! Have a blessed day!!!

    1. Hi Crystal!!! Great hearing from you ❤️. I like Priscilla. That’s so true what she said. We will face many trials. We all do play a different part and it all works together for good. I always appreciate your encouragement too! I’m glad we can all keep each other lifted up. Have a blessed day also! 😊💕

    1. Yes, so thankful He is always with us. I think even when we don’t have many people around it can be good because we get the chance to get closer to Jesus.

  2. Absolutely beautifully written and true. Such a great reminder. The comfort in knowing we are not alone. God is with us, we must continue to stand firm in our faith . Looking unto him the author and the finisher of our faith. Therefore every care, casting it to Him to bare.

  3. How often we need to be reminded to stand firm. Not only when there is a trial but when things are going good. In fact I think when things are going good we let our guard down and those trials knock us down harder. Good thoughts.

    1. Thanks you’re so right about letting our guard down in good times. In good times we need to keep giving God thanks and keep our focus on Him. That way we won’t forget that He is the Source of our blessings.

  4. What jumped out at me as I read this beautiful post is what you said regarding what trials should do – they should make us stronger! Why is then that many times they either appear to do the opposite or end up doing the opposite? 🤔 My prayer is that we would soar like eagles when trials come our way. We would have such childlike faith that we never worry or are anxious how things will work out knowing our Daddy has it all under His control 🤗❤️

    1. Good question. I pray we would soar too! Prayer is key in overcoming trials. Staying close to the Father through prayer will keep our focus on Him. As He promised He will give us His peace in exchange for our prayers. His grace is sufficient and will see us through 😊❤️

  5. Amen Dawn. I want to apologize for not staying up to date on reading your posts. And not really for the reason you may think. Yeah I’m too tired when I get home but it’s because I am missing the blessing of reading daily your words of encouragement.

Thank you dear sis for being an encouragement to others as you yourself draw closer to Christ ❤

  6. As Christians we will be challenged in our faith. Sometimes the challenge comes in the form of temptation, sometimes it we will be faced with, do we believe our circumstances or do we believe God’s Word. The enemy knows exactly when to target us, when we are at our weakest. The scripture says, the Devil tried to come back and tempt Jesus at the most opportune time. And because he knows precisely what to tempt us with.

The challenge often comes when the worlds way of doing things opposes God’s Way. We want to fit in and be accepted, and its challenging to stand firm. And of course, we are challenged when we go through trials and tribulations that cause us hurt and pain. I’ve been there. I’ve struggled with trying to stand firm in my faith. Psalm 40:1-2, is a good scripture to meditate on when you are trying to stand firm in your faith. When we are struggling in our faith, Satan is shooting fiery darts of doubt in our minds. We have to cast those thoughts down (2 Corinthians 10:5).

    1. Thanks Kim. I agree, it is challenging to go against the worlds ways and follow Jesus. We have to make a decision to stand firm and ask God for strength to stay strong. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and for those verses in Psalm.
