Cast Your Cares and Trust God

Psalm 55:22 NIV, “Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.”

I was recently having a conversation with someone, and she was sharing some of the issues that she was having with one of her adult children. She said it’s not easy seeing her child suffer, but that she was learning to just cast her cares upon the Lord. She said she knows in her heart that God has shown her that He will put everything into place for her child, so there is no need to worry. She said that she can see God working in many ways, but still has times when worry tries to creep in. However, when she focuses on what God has promised her regarding her child, she said she feels His peace.

I’m sure many of us can relate. We’ve had situations in life rather it’s our children, our jobs, our finances, our health etc., that have caused us to worry. However we already have assurance from God that things will work out well. It’s just a matter of casting our cares on Him and trusting Him to work out all the details, instead of allowing what we don’t understand to steal our peace.

As she spoke to me, I myself could sense God’s peace. Her words were a confirmation to me not to worry about details, but instead to cast all my cares on our God. We experience contentment when we relinquish control to Him, and believe in His ability to take care of us and supply our needs. As long as we place our faith in people, things, or even ourselves, we will not find lasting contentment.

Remember the assurance God has given you through His Word, or through the things His Holy Spirit have personally spoken to your heart. Learning not to worry may take some time, but as we learn, we will grow closer to the Lord, and be free to enjoy our lives as He brings His good plans to past. Don’t be afraid to cast your cares upon the Lord, because He has promised to sustain you. He will never let the righteous be shaken.

Trust With All Of Your Heart

Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV) 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

No matter how familiar this verse is to us, it will never lose its essence. As we trust in the Lord, He promises to make our paths straight. Even if we feel lost, we aren’t, because as long as we are trusting in Jesus and acknowledging Him in all of our ways, we know He is directing our paths. Every twist and turn we encounter is part of His divine plan. We don’t even have to understand everything, all we have to do is trust Him.

Submit every worry and uncertainty to the Lord in prayer and trust Him to work out what is best for you. Even if things don’t go exactly like you thought it would, still choose to trust God. Some of our greatest joys will come from allowing the Lord to lead us into unknown territory. When we are depending solely on the Lord for guidance and provision, we will grow in our faith in Him, grow in our relationship with Him, and we will experience His abundant blessings like never before.

I pray the Lord will continue to empower you to trust in Him with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding, and acknowledge Him in all of your ways.

Rejoice And Be Glad

Psalm 118:24 NLT, “This is the day the LORD has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.”

Every time the Lord allows us to see a brand new day, we can choose to “rejoice and be glad in it”. I like the idea that no matter what, we have a choice. Since His goodness and mercy are following us, we can confidently face each new day. God’s presence with us, surpasses any negative thing that may come our way. His love far outweighs even our greatest worries.

Rising above our circumstances and choosing to rejoice, may not always come naturally. However through Christ, we can supernaturally make a decision to trust God and rejoice. Through the power of the Holy Spirit working within us, God is able to do more than we can ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20).

Jesus Will Give You Peace

Isaiah 26:3 (NLT), “You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!”

Trusting in Jesus and keeping our thoughts fixed on him, will keep us living in perfect peace. When everything around us is spinning out of control, we can depend on Him to be steady. God is very much involved with the details of our lives, even when we feel otherwise. Just because we may not understand how He is working, does not mean He is not working.

Keeping our thoughts fixed on Him by meditating on scripture will remind us of His sovereignty over our lives. When we give our situations over to the Lord, His perfect peace will comfort us. He is with us no matter what it is we must endure.

Sometimes we wonder why God allows us to go through certain challenges, but we must trust His plans. Everything that He allows into our lives is for a reason. He can see way beyond the surface. His purposes stretch all the way into eternity. His faithfulness to us is also eternal, it will never end. Be encouraged. The Holy Spirit of God is with you.

Living Each Day By Faith

2 Corinthians 5:7 NIV, “For we live by faith, not by sight.”

Although living by faith as a Christian is a unique privilege, it’s not always an easy thing to do. A life lived in faith is good because we don’t have to be limited by what we see. We can trust God for more. We can believe Him to move in situations that are beyond our control and understanding. At times it’s hard because in our humanness, we desire to know all the answers. We want to be able to figure everything out and have all the details.

Lately I have had to remind myself that I don’t have to have all the answers, because God does. We can only do what He has given us the ability to do. We can only know what He has allowed us to know. Then, we have to be brave enough to live by faith and leave the rest to Him.

I have learned that living by faith means we have to take life one day at a time. We have to trust God to provide our needs each day. Worry always sets in when we become consumed with trying to figure out the details of the future.

There have been many times I have allowed myself to worry about something, only to find out later, that God had already worked everything out for my good. I wasted time and energy worrying. Remembering our Heavenly Father’s good deeds, will strengthen us to keep trusting Him in the future. Jesus lived by faith, and our Heavenly Father has called us to do the same. He makes no mistakes and will always do what is best for us.

Deuteronomy 32:4 NIV, “He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he.”

Confidence In HIM

I read this a couple of days ago, and reread it this morning. Thank you Perth Girl for this breakdown of Psalm 23:1-4. It’s a timely reminder to let God, our Shepherd lead us. He loves us and will take great care of us.

Psalm 23:1-4 ” The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths
for his name’s sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”

This passage speaks of green pastures and quiet waters as well as the darkest valley, evil and enemies.

It is one thing to say, “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want” and quite another to be in a dark valley in life and to hold that promise close to your heart with confidence and know that the Lord is with you.

Psalm 23 is a well-known and well-loved psalm and one of my favourites too.

Safe In The Shadow of Jesus

Psalm 36:7 ESV, “How precious is your steadfast love, O God! The children of mankind take refuge in the shadow of your wings.”

Some years ago I had a dream. I walked into an office building and once I got in a war broke out. There was shooting and loud noises all around me. I was terrified and was running through the building trying to find a place to hide. However, no matter how hard I tried, I could not find a refuge. So I called out, “Jesus, hide me in the shadow of your wings!” Immediately a shadow appeared. No matter where I went in that building, I was safe as long as I stayed in that Shadow. No one could see me. It was as if I was invisible. Not one of those flying bullets could harm me.

Although this was just a dream, the message it carries is very true. The Lord Jesus will always be our refuge. He will lovingly hide us in the shadow of His wings. He will protect us. Even though we must walk (or run!) through the trials of this life, He will carry us safely through. All we have to do is call out to Him. No matter what, He will be there. His love is steadfast, it endures forever.

Romans 10:13 NLT, “For everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved.”
