Here are the questions:

  1. Do you celebrate Halloween? Why or why not?
I never really gave much thought to Halloween until years ago, when an ex-witch, (who is now an evangelist who preaches the gospel of Jesus Christ) came to my church and taught us the truth about Halloween. I do not celebrate it, but I confess, if the activities committee at work decides to leave candy on my desk, I will eat it! Lol. I think I took my daughter trick or treating once when she was in about 4th grade, but never took her again. She attended the alternative events at church instead. The ex-witch strongly suggested that Christians just shut the church down completely on this night, because she said the witches laugh at us with our “Halloween alternative events”. She said Halloween is their highest holy day. But you know, everyone has to do what they feel lead to do regarding this. As the scripture says let us live up to what we’ve attained (Philippians 3:15-16). If the Holy Spirit has convicted you, don’t celebrate it. If he hasn’t, pray about it, listen for His voice and continue to do what you feel He’s leading you to do.

2. Cookie Monsters!Do you like to watch scary movies? Why or why not?
I used to be a huge fan of horror movies. Watching them was a thrill for me and it didn’t produce fear. But about 11 years ago, God delivered me from my obsession with horror movies. The closer I got to Jesus the more I disliked them. Watching them became scary. I could sense the presence of evil in them. During this time of year they show many horror movies, but I refuse to watch them. In the beginning it was really hard to not be tempted. Even now I have to be on my guard.

3. Name 3 of your greatest fears.

Horror movies lol

Some reptiles

Heights

4. When was the last time you scared someone?

I don’t think I have lately. I walk lightly so sometimes I startle people. They don’t hear me coming.

5. Do you believe in ghosts, angels, and/or demons?

Angels and demons, yes! Ghost, no!

6. Do you ever get déjà vu? What do you think it means?

Yes this has happened to me before. It’s a very strange feeling.

7. What are two of your favorite candies?

Twix and sour patch kids

Surprise Blessing

My last day of work was this past Friday. My coworkers were so kind to surprise me with a farewell dinner at a restaurant. They also gave me cards and a donation to help with my travels. I’m thankful for the employment I had with this company and the people I met. I’m excited to move on to the upcoming things God has planned for me.

Thank you all for your prayers, encouragement, and for leaving comments to ask how my move is coming along. Things have been busy, and I still have a couple of weeks before I leave the area, but everything is coming along well.

I’m sharing a couple of pictures from my farewell dinner. The ladies in the picture represent a variety of countries to include: Bahamas, Dominica, Canada, Jamaica, England, Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and America. I think I got them all. The diversity in South Florida is amazing.

Someone wrote a note in one of the cards for me to read Psalm 145. I will share the first three verses with you…

I will extol you, my God and King, and bless your name forever and ever. Every day I will bless you and praise your name forever and ever. Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised, and his greatness is unsearchable.

You’re Surrounded By Favor

Psalm 5:12 NIV, “Surely, LORD, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield.”

Rest today knowing that if you’re walking with Jesus, His favor surrounds you. He is not only walking with you, but He has also gone before you (Duet 31:8), and His Spirit lives inside of you (1 Cor 6:19).

Therefore, do not be afraid, because no weapon the evil one tries to form against you will prosper (Isaiah 54:17). God is faithful, and He will watch over you day and night (Psalm 121:5-6).

Walk confidently in the Lord Jesus. He will never fail you.

A Divine Appointment

Thanks Georgetta @ JourneyInHisWord for sharing your testimony of how God gives us “divine appointments”.

A friend and I went on a road trip to visit another friend who lives a 100 or so miles away.  Little did we know that this trip, which we planned months ago, was a divine appointment by Father God. We soon found out, this was a trip to minister to our friend needing Father God’s comforting “words of life” spoken to her.

After being on the road for 2-1/2 hours we arrived safely at our destination.  We had just walked through the door of our friend’s home when she received a phone call that would become life-changing.  It was a call from her doctor and the news wasn’t good!  Immediately, after talking with the doctor and hearing the diagnosis and options, tears and fear burst through.  We began comforting her with Father God’s promises of healing and protection.

This was a divine appointment because Father…

Blessed By His Goodness and Mercy

Psalm 23:6 NIV, “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever.”

Aren’t you glad that the goodness and mercy of the Lord are following you? If He wasn’t good, and if He wasn’t merciful, no telling where we’d be. It never ceases to amaze me, that God has a new portion of goodness and mercy available to us everyday.

When I think of the flaws I have and the many sins I’ve committed, I’m in awe that He would show me goodness and mercy anyway. His compassion outweighs any failures we have had. He chooses to be good to us and do what is best for us in every circumstance. God’s mercy causes Him to look beyond the surface, and into the depths of our hearts so He can meet our true needs. His goodness and mercy are like a beautiful green tree that will never die.

May we choose to dwell in the house of the Lord forever and ever, surrounded by His goodness and mercy, and fulfilled by His joy and love.

Keep On Loving

1 John 4:19 NIV, ”We love because he first loved us.”

Truthfully there are many reasons why I love Jesus, but this is one of the main reasons…because He first loved me. His love is not based on anything we’ve said or done. It doesn’t rely on our abilities in any way. He freely gives it, all we need to do is open our hearts to receive it. He proved His love by sacrificing His one and only Son to die for my sins, for your sins, and for the sins of the entire world. Jesus is a gift of love, the greatest gift we could ever receive.

As we grow in Christ, we learn to better understand His love. His love is unique, and it opens our eyes to His perspective. It’s changes how we view life and how we see people. It brings us hope and helps us to stay rooted in truth. The truth of Christ is a precious gem in a world that is saturated with lies.

One of life’s greatest joys is knowing the love of Jesus, and sharing that love with those around us. Every act of love, covered in God’s grace, touches a person’s heart. It doesn’t matter how tiny it may seem. Walking in the love of Christ takes strength and godly character, but by faith, we should keep on loving God and loving people, because He first loved us.
