Glory to Glory

2 Corinthians 3:18 KJB “But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.”

I like what Ellicott’s Commentary for English Readers says regarding this verse, “We see God mirrored in Christ, who is “the image of the invisible God” (Colossians 1:15), and as we gaze, with our face unveiled, on that mirror, a change comes over us.”

It’s so beautiful to know that as Christians, when we keep our gaze on Christ Jesus, we have the privilege of becoming more like Him and reflecting Him to others. Of course doing this takes intentionality. Everything we do should be done with the purpose of reflecting Christ.

God is always calling us higher, desiring for us to go from glory to glory and grow in our relationship with Him. This will require us to not lead a life of control and comfort, but instead a life of faith and obedience to His will. Living life with our gaze fixed on Christ, will lead us to the adventures that He has for us.

We see Him best when we choose to walk in His will, even if we must leave behind control and comfort. Although there are many things in the world that we can enjoy, surrendering to Christ each day, will give us the true fulfillment we long for. And that goes beyond even the best things this world has to offer.

Psalm 145:16 ESV, “You open your hand; you satisfy the desire of every living thing.”

As you sense God calling you higher, I encourage you to pray about everything and trust Him with each detail of your journey. Don’t let fear, anxiety, or comfort hold you back from the blessings God has for you on the next level.

  1. I love the idea of keeping our focus on Jesus. I try to remind myself of this. But in the day-to-day, I often forget and focus on what’s in front of me. However, keeping our eyes on Him can change everything. An encouraging post. Thanks, Dawn ♥️

    1. Yeah, it can become challenging in the midst of the day when the issues are in front of us. Some days I’m better than others. But I’m thankful He’s always there ready to assist us. You’re welcome, Bridget! Blessings!

  2. Loving life with our gaze fixed on Him will make us more like Him and we will reflect Him more and more- Amen to that. And so true that it takes intentionality. And to not let fear or even comfort hold us back from giving more of us to God- that resonated with me a lot.
    Thank you Dawn 💙

  3. Amen. Last Saturday morning, in our morning devotions at church, I shared this scripture verse. I focused on the difference between how Moses saw the glory of the Lord at the top of the mountain versus how the Israelites saw Him at the foot of the mountain. The glory of the Lord changed Moses” countenance into brilliant light. This is an example of how we need to change when we look upon the glorious face of God. Thank you for sharing this wonderful reminder. God bless you.

  4. Hi Dawn! When we let go of control, open our hearts, and go forward in faith, we grow. As you said, when we keep our gaze on Christ Jesus, we have the privilege of becoming more like Him and reflecting Him to others. A great reminder! 💖🦋🌺

    1. Hi Jeanne! Thank you! Going forward in faith and growing in Christ makes life so meaningful. There are so many things to distract us, but I have found life is better when I can keep my focus on Jesus and ask Him to help me with this when I struggle. Have a peaceful weekend. 💐☀️💕
