Just Show Up

Isaiah 30:18, “So the LORD must wait for you to come to him so he can show you his love and compassion. For the LORD is a faithful God. Blessed are those who wait for his help.”

Not too long ago, I was in a worship service and the worship leader shared with us that she felt the Lord impressing upon her heart that even the sound of our breathing was beautiful and pleasing to Him. Our Heavenly Father, was delighted that we were there in His presence. It wasn’t all about the words we spoke or the songs we sang. It was about our very existence, the fact that we were living and breathing.

There are times where we may feel so overwhelmed with the cares of life, that we may not even feel like praying. And when we do pray, we may feel we do not know where to begin. Those are the times where we just need to show up, because the Lord is waiting for us to come to Him so that He can show us His love and compassion.

Sometimes, just sitting quietly in His presence, brings the peace that our soul needs. The Holy Spirit knows exactly what we need to be encouraged in every circumstance. And He will supply those needs, when we take a step of faith and just show up.

So the next time you feel overwhelmed and find it difficult to go to the Lord in prayer, just show up anyway. He understands your heart. His faithfulness, compassion and love are waiting for you. And remember, His love never fails (1 Corinthians 13:8).

Blessings upon your week!

  1. I love it, Dawn. ❤️❤️❤️ So much of being loved and blessed by God (especially the feeling part) is about showing up.
Sometimes, all we can do is keep breathing and keep walking and keep waiting on God. He is faithful! Amen, sister. Blessings to you and yours.

  2. Thank you so much! I really needed this today! And you mentioned my one word for 2024 several times! (Presence 🥰) Several things have been weighing on my heart, and they have been difficult to pray about. I’m so comforted to know that God understands where I’m coming from and I just need to show up! Have a blessed week, Dawn!

  3. But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

  4. Love this reminder Dawn, just show up and sit quietly seeking his presence. Just a couple of days ago I experienced just what you talked about. It is the summer holidays here, everyone’s routine is a bit different and so my quiet time is a little affected and I was yearning to have some time with God but was not feeling it. I just thought , let me just sit and eventually I felt at peace and could feel him close.
And maybe the Lord does find even our breathing pleasing, that makes me think I am so far away from being like him because hubby has to just breathe/snore loudly near my ear and I am like ‘why!’ 😩😆
Thank you again for this reminder. God bless you.

    1. Thanks for sharing your experience. That’s so beautiful how God blessed you with His peace when you chose to just sit in His presence. Lol! That’s funny about your hubby. 😂 I remember growing up my Dad was always snoring loud too. You’re welcome! Blessings.

      1. Thanks you sooo much. I must apologize for not coming to your site more, but last year I lost my husband and am trying to find my footing. God has not forgotten you and neither have I. Blessings.

      2. I’m so sorry to hear about your husband. It takes time to heal. My mom passed last January. A year ago this month. It is difficult to lose loved ones. Just keep taking it one day at a time. May God give you comfort. Blessings my friend. ❤️
