Suffering For What is Right

1 Peter 3:14, “But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. “Do not fear their threats ; do not be frightened.”

We live in a world where we are seeing and experiencing many things that are contrary to the Word of God. When we choose to stand for what God’s Word says is right, we may at times feel weary or discouraged in the battle. Choosing to walk faithfully with the Lord, is not always going to be a simple path. As a matter of fact, Jesus encourages us with these words in John 16:33…

“…Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”

I also am inspired by the good news translation that says…

“…The world will make you suffer. But be brave! I have defeated the world!”

Jesus tells us to take heart and be brave because He has overcome and defeated the world. There is a blessing that rests upon our lives when we choose to suffer for doing what God says is right. And we will never experience any troubles that are beyond His control.

1 Peter 4:13, “But rejoice inasmuch as you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed.”

Rejoice, knowing that through our sufferings, the glory of Christ will be revealed. We don’t always know what God is up to, but we can take heart and know that His glory will shine through.

So be of good cheer! Do not let fear and worry consume you. Remain faithful and obedient to the Savior, Jesus Christ. And look to Him for daily strength

    1. Thank you Dennis! I agree, because I have had many challenges over the years in the work place. And for many years at work, I kept Galatians 6:9 on my desk. Have a blessed week.

  1. Thank you for this encouraging words Dawn. At times we do get weary. We can trust him as he is sovereign over everything. And yes, we do not understand his ways but knowing he is a good God reassured us that it is all according to his plans and purposes.
Have a great week ahead Dawn 💙

  2. Amen. Dawn, this testament reminds each of us of God’s ultimate love for us. He sends His Son to bear mankind’s past, present, and future transgressions. May our faithful steps feel empowered by Christ’s suffering for us.

  4. I feel it is a hard ask to be strong, maybe it relates to what I am going through now, but I guess whether it is right or wrong, we need to keep fighting because that’s probably something that defines us. And if the suffering is for the right cause, then maybe it is all for the right things and the purpose will take care of a path to define the future. Maybe a bit of wishful thinking or maybe a bit of faith or both 🙂

    1. I agree it is a difficult road but like you said we have to keep fighting. It’s a day by day journey. I like your perspective that, “the purpose will take care of a path to define the future.” Thanks for sharing. 😊

  5. Felt so encouraged by this, Dawn: “Rejoice, knowing that through our sufferings, the glory of Christ will be revealed. There IS great uplift in the knowledge that God’s glory WILL be manifest even in suffering. Lord, give us strength to remain steadfastly faithful to you!
