Give Where It Counts

Ecclesiastes 3:6 AMP, “A time to search and a time to give up as lost; A time to keep and a time to throw away.”

Sometimes in life, without even noticing, we can get caught up in giving our thoughts, time, and energy to people or things that are not doing us any good. We must make sure that the things and people we are giving our attention to are the things and people God wants us to give our attention to. We do not want to waste out thoughts, time, and energy in areas that are not God’s will for us.

Perhaps there are relationships that are no longer of value, but you still hang on to them. Or maybe it’s a job that God is leading you to leave, but you’re comfortable going there so you refuse to move on. Or there could be some other area of your life that is not producing fruit, but you keep on giving to it because you do not want to it let go.

Understanding what areas of our lives need to change, is a process God can help us through. He will give us clarity if we ask Him and listen to what He says. Letting go of the old and embracing the new can be scary, but it can also be rewarding.

God is faithful to supply our needs when we embark on new journeys out of obedience to Him. We should ask Him to help us to Give Where It Counts and trust Him for a meaningful outcome that will make a difference in our lives and the lives of others.

  1. A good one Dawn. I have learnt this over the years. I think as I have gotten older I am better at it, especially relationships or friendships that we might hang onto. Some friendships are not for life but for a season in your life.

    1. Thanks Manu. Me too. I have had to let go, especially when those relationships were hindering my walk with the Lord. Also things I was doing personally that were not helping me grow closer to the Lord. Blessings.

  2. As our priorities change and we grow in faith, it is time to move forward, reassessing where to spend our energy and time. Change isn’t easy for me, but it is often God-directed and needed; to follow His path. Thanks for the reminder, Dawn. Blessings! ❤️💐🌺

  3. There is a time and a season for everything. The struggle for many of us is that we don’t always comprehend the season that we are in. It is when we seek God that we are able to know. We meet different sets of people in our lives. We are positioned in our place of work for a purpose but in all things, we must seek the wisdom of God. He alone will direct us and give us peace. We must be willing to embrace the new. Although we may not know what the new has in stored for us, we know who goes before us. Thank you Lord. God bless you Dawn. Great reminder 🤗🙏🏿

    1. Amen. Seeking God is so important. He will speak to us, and direct us. Like you mentioned, we don’t always comprehend the season we are in. We need God to bring understanding. Thank you Queen Karen! 🙏🏿🤗

  4. True words 👏, Dawn. Sometimes we tend to hold on to the familiar when God have something better for us and sometimes we give our time and resources into a ministry or even a person that is not productive. I pray that we will be sensitive to the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Thanks for sharing. It reminds me of some past mistakes that I have made because I did not want to let go.

    1. You’re welcome Beverley! I have been in that boat too. Sometimes it’s hard to let go. But I’ve found God has blessings in store when we do. I am thankful He is patient with us as we learn and grow.
