Matthew 14:27 NLT, “But Jesus spoke to them at once. “Don’t be afraid,” he said. “Take courage. I am here!”
I am sure most of us are familiar with the story of Jesus walking on the water, and Him calling Peter out of the boat to join Him. You can read the whole story here if you like, Matthew 14:22-33.
However, this particular verse in the chapter, verse 27, stood out to me the last time I read it. It is a reminder that Jesus wants us to be willing to step out in faith and not be afraid because as He said, “I am here!” When we are met with new challenges or even called to pursue new ventures, He is with us, giving us what we need to obey Him and move forward. Do you trust Him to supply your every need and be with you as He promised? Our faith filled steps of obedience will lead to God’s best for our lives, and our obedience is even a blessing to those around us.
Trust Jesus today and don’t be afraid to do as He says; He is right there with you. Take courage!
Drawing Closer to Christ

I always think that it was Peter among the others who took that step of faith and courage out on the water and because of that he experienced something others did not. I hope to remember that when out of fear we refuse to step out of that boat.

This makes me think of when John says Jesus in his glory. John fell as if dead. Jesus touched him and said Do not be afraid. It is me.

Amen! The Word of Christ constantly reminds that He means what He says. We just need to take one faithful step followed by another, then another, and keep repeating no matter what obstacles we might encounter.

How comforting to know that Jesus is there, no matter what we are going through. This helps us face each battle with renewed courage and strength.

What a promise that even in the valley of the shadow of death He is there. In the middle of a storm He is there. Read Psalms 39 my favorite expounds on this particular topic

Hmm, we should be afraid to take bold steps with Jesus. It reminds of the verse “Be bold and be courageous for I am with you” (Paraphrased).
May we choose God’s words above our fears. 🙏
