Keep Giving Love

1 John 4:19 NIV, “We love because he first loved us.”

When loving people, especially difficult people, gets hard, this simple yet powerful verse reminds us of the love God has for us. Because of His love for us, we should give others love too. His love in our lives, enables us to extend mercy and compassion to others. Where would we be if God did not first love us? How many ways has his love changed our lives? The fact that God loves us and puts His love for us first, before all things, including our sins, is a reason to rejoice! Love is the reason Jesus died for our sins (John 3:16, Romans 8:9). May we honor God by loving others in a way that brings Him glory. His love endures forever.

  1. I am so thankful for the love of God and that He first loved each of us and drew us to Himself. You make such a good point. Because He loved us when we were unlovable, we too should extend that same love. Thank you for sharing this reminder. We surely need more of the love of Jesus in our world.

  2. I am thankful that God loved us first when we are imperfect. And the love that we receive from Him should spur us to love others. In a time where we tend to feel and see less love and acceptance of Christ this is a much needed reminder.

  3. When we open our hearts to God’s love, we learn by His example to love others. Your post made me think of the song “They will know we are Christians by our love.” 💗🌺

  4. Knowing that we are loved by God makes us capable of loving others even our enemies. This is a great reminder, Dawn. My prayer is that we all will accept His love. The world would be a better place.
