God is Patiently Waiting

2 Peter 3:9 NIV, “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”

God’s patience never ceases to amaze me. He is willing to wait, giving the world a chance to repent and turn from its wicked ways. He is also patient with us daily as we grow in Him, and slowly but surely learn to walk in His ways. Knowing this should give us a new perspective as we interact with others. The patience that God extends to us, we must learn to extend to others.

Since we live in a fast paced world, patience is not usually celebrated, but as God’s children, we have the privilege of shining His light into the lives of others through the patience we show. As our light shines, we are helping to point people to Jesus, who is patiently waiting for them to repent and be saved.

  2. Reminds me of Isaiah 1:18—COME NOW LET US REASON TOGETHER…..

    Such a patient father, we as His children have the same obligation to be patient just as our father is patient.

    I am really working on my patience levels this days.

  3. So true that patience is not celebrated in today’s culture.
    Thank the Lord for being patient with those that are yet to give their life to Him and with us as He patiently refines and shapes us to be more like Him.

  4. Sometimes it can be a challenge to live on God’s timetable. We want our prayers answered now. And you are so right – this fast paced world we live in doesn’t help. But when we remember how patient God is, it does help us to come along side Him and walk at His pace. And I am so thankful for His patience because I sure need it. Thanks for this encouraging post!

  7. I don’t know who coined this but reading this post made me think of the quote that says, “when you are tempted to lose patience with other people remember how patient God has been with you. (I might be paraphrasing lol).

  9. I know God is in control and His timing is perfect, but for me, patience is not my best virtue. So thanks be to God that His mercies are new every morning.
