Are You Willing to Change?

Psalm 51:10 ESV, “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.“

This verse is such a beautiful prayer to the Lord. There is power in asking Him to give us a clean heart. When we allow God’s Spirit to work in our hearts, we will begin to see positive changes in our lives.

It’s easy to point fingers and blame someone other than ourselves when something is wrong. However, to lay our hearts before the Lord and ask Him to do a work within us takes courage and humility. It is dangerous for us to assume we are not at fault in a particular situation. Instead of assuming, we must ask God to open our eyes to see what we need to do differently. He will help us to examine ourselves.

Self examination is never easy because it requires us to change. In our human nature, we usually prefer comfort over change. Change requires us to admit we are wrong and repent before God. Change requires us to die to our old ways of thinking and our old habits. Change requires us to apologize to others that we have hurt. Are you willing to change to see souls saved? Are you willing to change to help other Christians grow in their faith? Are you willing to change so that God’s love can shine through you?

When we die to ourselves, we can freely live for Jesus Christ. We can have a huge impact in the lives of those we encounter just by praying these simple yet powerful words, “Lord, create in me a clean heart, and renew a right spirit within me.”

Are you willing to change?

  2. Amen, Dawn. I am intentionally, slowly reading through Psalm 119 for 54 days. Today, I went back over this verse, “Keep me from lying to myself; give me the privilege of knowing Your instructions.” It really woke me up! How often are we lying to ourselves by not truly doing self reflection, seeking God, repenting, and going to His Word? Yes, in order to change we need God at the center! ❤

  5. Dawn, it is so easy to see the log in other’s eyes, instead, we should ask the Lord to open, cleanse, and examine our own hearts and renew our spirit. To live for Christ. 🌟🌺

  6. So thought provoking, Dawn, and convicting. I’ve noticed that my unwillingness to change is closely associated with pride, and we know that pride goes before a fall. Thank you for these challenging words today! God’s blessings to you!
