Psalm 5:3 NIV, “In the morning, LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly.”
Have you ever had those times in the wee hours of the morning where God woke you up for prayer? We know that our God is not limited by time. He’s always available around the clock. Whenever He wakes us for prayer, we shouldn’t hesitate to answer His call to spend quality time with us.
God uses these quiet and still times to enjoy a unique type of intimacy with us. Embrace those moments, where because of the quiet, you can clearly hear His voice. Even if you don’t seem to hear God speaking anything specific, just enjoy the moment and sit quietly in His presence.
For many of us, the days are so busy, so it’s a blessing when we have these special times to commune with the Lord. There have been many times God woke me, and I felt Him nudging me to pray, and whenever I’ve taken advantage of His offer, I can honestly say, I’ve never been disappointed.
Psalm 119:147 NLT, “I rise early, before the sun is up; I cry out for help and put my hope in your words.”

Living a life of devotion to the Lord may require us to get less sleep for whatever the reason. It could be because of early morning prayer, or because of a late night phone call with a loved one who needs someone to talk to. But I’m thankful that He is our strength through it all.
When it comes to the Lord, the gains of obedience to Him, far outweigh any losses we may have. When He asks us to give something up (extra sleep included), it’s because He has something far better waiting for us on the other side of our obedience.
So true, Dawn. The fact that the Creator of the universe, of things seen and unseen wants to spend time with us is too much to take in. His love is great, and you are right, just sitting quietly in His presence sets the tone for the day in a way that nothing else can. Love and blessings! ♥

So true that the gains of obedience to Him far outweigh any losses we may have. A good reminder to listen to those nudges from God to spend time with Him. Whenever I have listened to those nudges I have always enjoyed a wonderful time of just being with God.
Blessings Dawn😊💙

I learned long ago that if God wakes me up early, I might as well get up & pray/ read The Word becasue He won’t let me go back to sleep until the work is done.

Just as a baby wakes up to be fed, sometimes God wakes us up to be fed from our Heavenly Father. I love your blog, Dawn!

I like that analogy. We do need to be fed by our Heavenly Father. Thanks Patty! ❤️

I almost didn’t read because I saw the words early morning 🙂
As a non-morning person, I still enjoy starting my day praying and listening to worship music.

I love testimonies! As a young Christian, I remember hearing a testimony from a much older and wiser sister in the Lord talk about her early morning quiet times with the Lord. She shared how God awakened most mornings at 4 am for prayer. I remember thinking how is that even possible and at the same hoping that one day God would wake me early to spend time with Him, too. I remember the first time He did! I was over the moon, excited to think that He would wake me up to spend time with Him! I love those times!❤️

Lord, help me to be obedient. I was so guilty of this today. The Lord woke me at 5:30 to spend time with Him and I didn’t obey. Whew! This is such a needed reminder and confirmation for me, big sister ♥️

The early morning times are so precious. The 1 and 3 am times can be a bit of a sacrifice at first; but always WELL worth it! It’s such a privilege and honor.

Lol. Thank you for that. I was becoming a little grumpy because I normally have no trouble sleeping, but just lately there’s a lot to pray about and I thought it was me worrying that was stopping me drift back to sleep… it’ll be a much better idea to use the time more wisely and engage with my Father though. I hadn’t considered it might be a call to prayer – perhaps I didn’t want to consider that… xx

Absolutely sis. It’s because He has something better waiting for us on the other side of our obedience to Him. I totally attest to this. Our obedience to His call to do some things at some odd time may just be what saves us or even our loved one in a time to come, as He knows all we don’t know.
