Psalm 1:1 KJV, “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.”
There is a lot of information available to us nowadays. It’s simple to get advice because we have the internet right at our fingertips. I noticed there are also many people who have become life coaches who are ready and willing to advise people on what they need to do. These things are good, but we must be careful to make sure we are not following the advice of those who have no regard for the ways of the Lord. The actions we take should be in line with God’s Word. Obedience to His Word is what will lead us to success.

Putting God first and acknowledging Him in all of our ways will keep us in His perfect will. Be careful not to fall prey to the evil one. He is a counterfeit who is skilled at leading people astray by making sin seem good and harmless. He is an expert at mixing lies with a little truth to entice people.
Ask God for wisdom and understanding, and ask Him to send the right people and resources into your life. Don’t settle for the shortcut that will lead to destruction. Only accept God’s best for you.
Oh how we need to hear this Dawn! I’m always so concerned about people who follow “so and so” but forget all about God’s wisdom! One such lady I know just wrote a post called “Losing my Faith”. It broke my heart to read, though I saw it coming as her hero’s were atheists and extreme feminists!

People are searching for answers and are so vulnerable to the lies of the enemy. We must stay rooted in God’s Word. I pray that lady finds the truth of Jesus Christ. Thanks Heather. ❤️

Such a good reminder. We have to be aware of what we hear and read on the internet and cannot just accept all as true and right. That is why it is important to read the word for yourself and spend time asking God to help understand rather than relying on someone else’s interpretation always. And yes our actions should be in line with Gods word.

Amen. Definitely important to read for ourselves. Ministers are wonderful and others who help us spiritually but nothing is better than knowing Him and His Word for yourself.

Great wisdom sister. Thank you. A blog post has been stirring in my mind about this subject since last night and I may write more about it.
What God revealed to me was that in our homeless journey we were thrown into it as babes. We had no idea about what the homeless go through or the services or trials we would encounter. If we had known we would have made different choices and thus derailed the faith walk by trusting in our own wisdom over God. This is the danger in relying what you know or life coaches who think they know. We are supposed to put our trust 100% on God, not man, so if we are relying on human wisdom to guide us we cannot have faith. This is a problem. When God leads us He purposefully takes us out of our comfort zone and knowledge depth so we LEARN to lean on Him, not mankind.
If we ever become homeless again we know how to survive on the street or woods, find food and shelter and trust God for provision. We can rely on our experience and wisdom for that but that came because of faith and learning to trust in God.
Had we trusted in man I guarantee we would still be out there wandering about homeless scrounging for food and shivering in the cold. The reason for this is simple. Man’s ‘self’ nature gets power when controlling another person. When you are looking to a life coach you are literally putting yourself in the hands of the ‘self’ of another person. Is that really a wise thing to do? Because I can guarantee you that the ‘self’ nature in that person is more interested in keeping you dependent on them than seeing you find your destiny in God and spiritually mature. Very dangerous.
It would be much wiser to seek the help of the One who created and loves you than from the created who can only take from you.
Blessings,
Homer Les

Very truthful points! It’s vital not to become dependent on a person to lead you constantly instead of depending on God. Actually many are doing this with their pastors. They only believe what they are told on Sunday morning but never seek God for themselves the rest of the week. Thanks Homer. Looking forward to your post on this topic!

You are so right Dawn. I was going to make the connection to pastors in my comment but chickened out. 🙂 For many years we have seen too many Christians abrogate their personal responsibility to learn for themselves. They take the quick 1 hour on Sunday, conferences or Internet sermons relying on man’s wisdom and then fail to really grow in maturity. It makes me sad and angry at the same time. There is certainly a shared responsibility between pastor and congregant in this regard that will injure them both if they do not escape.

Amen. I once heard someone say Sunday should be the dessert so to speak, but outside of that we should pursue the Lord daily for ourselves and stay in prayer. That’s the only way to mature. 😊

Such a powerful truth….Whew!!! ” The actions we take should be in line with God’s Word. Obedience to His Word is what will lead us to success.”
As I read this message the Holy Spirit led me to Joshua 1:8, reiterating the words He gave you to share….
“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Thank You Lord for the message and the messenger!!!

Amen! There is no wise counsel apart from God and His Word. Seeking godly counsel helps us to critically think through all of our options and not go in our own way and understanding that could lead to our detriment. We will not be considered to be among the fools who have rejected wise counsel and instructions.

Thinking through our options in light of God’s Word is important because bad decisions can have a negative impact on our lives and the lives of those around us.

Great reminder! I had two thoughts on this. 1) It isn’t that we must always be preaching or in a church pew, but every action we take can be consecrated to His glory. 2) We need to learn how to evaluate what works for and is right for us, using the Spirit. Thank you for sharing!

Yes big sis. God should be our point call. And we ought rather make Him our centre of believe so than through Him we can choose mentors etc rightly. If we get it right with God, we won’t miss out of the good folks He will bring our way. But God first!. 👍💯
