Thanks Jacquie @ Joy Cottage for encouraging us not to shrink back in our faith in Jesus.

But our way is not that of those who shrink back to destruction, but [we are] of those who believe [relying on God through faith in Jesus Christ the Messiah] and by this confident faith preserve the soul. Hebrews 10:39 (AMP).

There
are seasons of becoming reacquainted with God’s necessary attributes for living
a godly life. For me, this is a season of remembering that His grace is
essential and sufficient for the ability to walk through pain, loss,
disappointment, failed expectations and so on. I desire to be faithful in
loving service regardless of circumstance, so that means no shrinking back. No
going back to familiar ways of dealing with (difficult times in life). Those methods
that the unredeemed nature relies on, that try to take over when I feel vulnerable
emotionally or physically.

Why is this important? Because as Hebrews 10:39 tells us; to shrink, or to turn…

  1. This is a powerful message of truth which has been beautifully craved. Despite life obstacles, expectations not happening as planned. This is not the time to shrink. As stated so eloquently we must allow love to abide, embrace God’s grace and mercy. When the same is extended to others, we are able look for the positive, learn the and mature spiritually in showing unconditionally love.

  2. What is feel so hard not to shrink back in the Kingdom? Because there is war going on to get us to recant our confession.

    We must continue to fight…

    He who promised is faithful..!

We all battle the inner battles of confusion, fear doubt. When we operate in these things we shrink back. When we are saved we have God and the Holy Spirit living on the inside of us, to fulfill our calling.

We can feel afraid to walk in our calling because of finances, we feel to young or old, we don’t feel we can make a difference. We fear failure or stepping out of our comfort zone. We fear people will think we are crazy or that we will look foolish. And spiritually we feel we aren’t good enough or feel guilt because of our sins.

In your beautiful post I thought about fear. I’ve been shrinking back from what I know God has called me to do and its been causing me to feel uncomfortable. How can I dare believe God for this!?! I find myself in that frantic moment where I hear the instructor yell JUMP but I can’t jump out the plane. I’m just stuck in the analysis of paralysis. Fear has been driving my behavior, everything in me wants to shrink but as I write this I thought about how ridiculous it is to be afraid when God is with us. But here is the thing: I am afraid that I could fail, but I’m going to do it anyway.

    1. Love this. “…will do it anyway”. Once of Joyce Meyer’s books talks on this “Living courageously”- Do it afraid!.

The fear won’t take a run unless you confront it with a yelling ” NO” 🙌

And thanks sis @Dawn for sharing this post. ❤

    2. There are so many things that can hold us back from God’s best if we let it, but I think you summed it up perfectly when you said mentioned fear. We can remember perfect love cast out fear! I love what you said…

“But here is the thing: I am afraid that I could fail, but I’m going to do it anyway.”

      Thanks Kim!!!
