Gather In His Name

Matthew 18:20 NIV, For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”

When we come together in Christ name, rather physically, virtually, or on the phone, (thank God for technology, especially during the pandemic) He promises to be in our midst. There is strength that comes from joining together in His name. We can pray together, share His Word together, and encourage one another as we persevere in our faith. The Christian lifestyle is not meant to be a solo journey, and it is a blessing to be part of a family of believers that we can walk side by side with. As Proverbs 27:17 tells us, iron sharpens iron.

Right relationships are a vital part of our walk with the Lord. The Lord will send the right people into our lives when we ask. We can trust Him to guide us to relationships that will propel us forward in our faith in Jesus.

A New Heart

Teach me your way, Lord,     that I may rely on your faithfulness; give me an undivided heart,     that I may fear your name. I will praise you, Lord…

A New Heart

Two Sides

Proverbs 18:17, NIV, “In a lawsuit the first to speak seems right, until someone comes forward and cross-examines.”

It can be easy to form an opinion when we hear one side of a story, but if there are two people involved, that means there are two stories involved. Therefore, we must be careful not to jump to conclusions. Even in our own lives, it is pretty easy to point fingers when we encounter conflicts, however, it pays to examine ourselves and see areas where we may have faults. This doesn’t mean the other person involved has no faults, it just means that in humility we realize that we, or those we love, may also have faults. Prayer is a huge help with this, the Holy Spirit will help us to see truth in every situation.

Satan is the accuser, who is always trying to accuse and condemn us (Revelation 12:10); I’m thankful that God is merciful, and willing to hear our side of the story when we go to Him in prayer and repentance. We should strive to extend the same kindness to others whenever possible.

Guard Your Lips

Proverbs 13:3 NIV, “Those who guard their lips preserve their lives, but those who speak rashly will come to ruin.”

It’s crucial to be cautious with our words. The words we speak to others, and even the things we say about ourselves, can do good, or they can do harm. Words can build up or they can tear down. They can bring life or death (Proverbs 18:21). One of the best ways to “guard our lips” is to think before we speak. Thinking before we speak honors God and helps us to better love our neighbors. Also taking time to listen to others when they are speaking will help us to better understand how they feel.

Luke 6:45 NIV says, “For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.”

Filling our hearts with the wisdom and truth found in God’s Word will empower us to speak words that bring life to ourselves and others.

Trust And Be Blessed

Whoever gives heed to instruction prospers, and blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord. Proverbs 16:20 NIV

The Lord always wants what is best for us, so it’s important to follow His instructions for our lives. Although we may not always understand why He is leading us in a certain direction, we can rest knowing He will never lead us astray. He can see the entire outcome, and we can only see what He allows us to see. There have been many times in my own life that God was leading me in a direction I didn’t fully understand. I had to trust Him, obey His instruction, and walk by faith.

It brings peace to follow the path He has laid out, and He always makes sure we have what we need. It has brought amazing joy when I’ve gotten to the point in the journey where I can see why God required me to do whatever He asked me to do. We never come up short when we obey the Lord. The uncertainty we face because of obedience to the Lord is overshadowed by the rewards we receive, especially the rewards of deepening our relationship with Him and growing stronger in our faith. May God bless you as you continue to trust and obey!

I will be taking a blogging break, but hope to return in a couple of weeks or so.

Never Separated From God’s Love

“No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:39 NLT

One thing about the Lord that I love is that He loves us. He not only loves us, but He first loved us (1 John 4:19). Therefore, there is nothing we can say or do to earn His love. He gives it to us freely. Even when things around us are unpredictable, God’s Love is the one thing that will never change. We can be sure of His perfect love. It’s true, nothing can separate us from God’s love. When we go through hardships, His love is there. When we feel alone, His love is there. We live in a world that wants to separate us from God’s love by denying His existence, but even through the denial, His love is still there. We don’t have to worry, because His love lives inside of us through His Spirit. He has promised to never leave us nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5).

I encourage you to remember God’s Love for you as you face this day, and I pray you find peace in knowing that His love is always with you.
