Hope For Our Fears

1 John 4:18 NIV, “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.”

Fear is sometimes a natural response when we feel something is beyond our control. Our minds can run wild imagining the worst possible outcomes. In those moments or days where we experience fear, learning to make prayer our first response can be difficult, but it is necessary. Prayer allows us to cast our fears and worries upon God, and receive His help. It gives God the opportunity to give us guidance and open our eyes to see things from His perspective. Through prayer, He will intervene on our behalf. Knowing that God loves us perfectly will bring peace to our hearts and calm our fears, even in life’s toughest situations. When our hope is Him, we can overcome our fears.

    1. You’re welcome Bridget. I am noticing in my life too how quickly fear can creep in and I’m trying to remember to pray right away when this happens. Keep clinging to God in prayer. So thankful He will never leave us. 💕🤗

  1. Fear can come in, overwhelm and very quickly take hold. Only the Lords peace helps me fight it. Thank you for this reminder to turn to God. Although we know it we need to keep hearing it because we worry when fear creeps in.
    Blessings to you 💙🌺

  2. I like the NIV version that says “fear has to do with punishment.” Indeed we are torturing our mind when we fear. But God has given us the remedy. Love and prayer. Thank you, Dawn for this wonderful reminder. It has been a blessing to me.
