Let Us Forgive One Another

Ephesians 4:32 ESV, “Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.”

Christ forgave us, and still forgives us every time we repent, so we are commanded to forgive one another. When others offend us, it can really hurt, but God is merciful and understanding. He is our ever present help who is willing to help us to forgive our offenders. He wants us to be free from the pain we feel, so we can be free to live our lives and fulfill our purpose.

Although we are not always able to have a relationship with those we forgive for various reasons, forgiving them will help bring healing to our souls. God has wonderful plans for His children, and learning to forgive is an important part of those plans. Remembering all that God has forgiven us of is humbling, and it inspires us to show the same kindness to others.

“Forgive one another, as God in Christ forgave you”.

  3. Forgiveness – we are to extend that just as God forgave us. It takes time to get to the point to let go of that hurt and move to a place of complete forgiveness.
    A wonderful reminder Dawn to not hold onto that which can be such a stumbling block to our growth.

  5. Forgiveness is beneficial to our souls – this is absolutely true, Dawn. In forgiving others our hearts, minds and souls are set free to move on. In contrast, when we do not forgive others we cannot move on effectively. We are caught in a net that restricts us greatly.

  9. Good day, my friend. Many people in the church struggle with this. It takes humility to forgive the people who hurt us, but by surrendering the situation to the Lord will help us. Thanks for sharing.

  10. that scripture came alive for me in what you wrote – “as God, in Christ, forgave you” forgave me! when I think how much He has had mercy on me, because of Jesus, how could I not forgive anyone! I might not always feel warmth to them, but God will heal all that if I obey the command. I’m sure forgiving His crucifiers wasn’t easy either – for Father or Son. Thank you. Sorry for waffling

  15. Amen, wonderful reminder. It’s easy to forget that this is not optional but in fact required of any who confess Christ. There are many reasons why His command is good for us (some of which Christ Himself provided), but we should need to be convinced of none of those in order to obey Him whom we call Lord. Alas, and yet I sometimes need convincing and reminding. Praise the Lord for His grace! God bless!

  16. Amen. Forgiving others isn’t always so easy to do but what a loving Father we have who teaches us about forgiveness. Thank you so much for the reminder that just as we are forgiven, so we should also extend that same forgiveness to others.

  18. Forgiveness is opening the gates of prison to let the prisoners out only to find that you were the prisoner lol…..The best verse that dismantled unforgiveness from my heart was this Matthew 18:21-35

    1. Lol. Thanks, I like that analogy about forgiveness. And I was actually just reading Matthew 18:21-35 the other day and sharing it with some coworkers. That parable definitely speaks volumes about unforgiveness. Blessings to you!!
