Rest In Jesus

Matthew 11:28 NLT, “Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.”

Jesus gives us rest, spiritually and physically. He paid the price for our sins so we don’t have to wear ourselves out trying to compensate for our wrongdoing with our works. We can rest in His finished work on the cross . I recently heard a sermon that stressed how important it is for us to also rest physically. Our bodies need time to heal from the daily toil of life. Even God rested during creation.

Genesis 2:2 NLT, “On the seventh day God had finished his work of creation, so he rested from all his work.”

Rest is something that is definitely worth praying over. Through prayer we can stay connected to Jesus and He will help us to maintain balance in our lives spiritually and physically. We can trust Him to give us the rest we need. Don’t let fear or worry hold you back from finding rest in Jesus.

  1. 🔥Burn-out is real. Even if we love what we are doing, we must spend time each week getting adequate rest for body, mind & soul. If the God of the universe rested after creating the world, why on earth 🌎 would we think that we don’t need to recharge on a regular basis too.

  2. Praise the Lord. When your body screams rest you need to rest even if you are doing God’s work. It was great resting for a few days without feeling pressured to write or publishing anything on my blog. Rest is good.

  3. Yeah, rest. This is something God is teaching me. I think I’ll get there. I lost my ability to rest after we shut our business down. I poured myself into study and writing to compensate for the loss and being unemployed. It’s no wonder I’ve been a mess. It’s definitely peaceful to rest and bit. I do love to study, but I over study. I have to force myself to do some other things as well and simply rest. This was my first instalment of my family History here. It was very restful and peaceful to meditate on.

  4. Amen, Dawn ♥ Like so much of the benefits that God gives us, Rest is a weapon. Rest is the best way to maintain godly perspective, which defeats the enemy before he can even begin his assault on our thinking. I pray you and your sweet Mom are well.

    1. Thanks Jacquie. Rest does help us to see the Lord’s perspective. When we’re tired we are more prone to the tricks of the enemy. Thanks for the prayers. We are coming along. I pray you and your family are well. 💛

  5. Absolutely. God isn’t only concerned about our spiritual aspect of life only. He wants us to be Whole – bodily, spiritually and in our souls. May we always seek rest in Him that we be whole indeed. Amen.

    Happy new month sis. 🤗

  6. Amen it’s so important to not trust in ourselves but to trust in the savior the Lord Jesus. We cannot bribe God with our good works, I am glad we have a perfect savior who did it for us
