Prayer, an Honor and Privilege

Philippians 4:6 NLT, “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.”

I’m very familiar with the NIV version of this verse, but I recently read it in the NLT version that I mentioned above, and loved it just as much. We don’t need to worry or be anxious about anything. It’s an honor and a privilege that through Christ Jesus, we can carry all of our needs to God in prayer. Nothing is too small for God to care about, and nothing is too big for Him to handle. We need to challenge ourselves to entrust all things to Him in prayer.

It’s a joy that we can talk to God anytime and anyplace. There is no one formula when it comes to prayer. He delights in hearing our voice, as we tell Him what we need. He is our loving Father who cares about the details of our day. As we pray, we can joyfully thank Him for all He has done and all He will do in the days to come. Don’t worry, just pray to God, about everything.

  2. It is nice to read a different version ( I usually use the NIV). It prevents me from glossing over an all too familiar verse.
    Nothing is too small for God to care about- I needed that reminder. I sometimes don’t take the little things to God right away and then I catch myself stressing a bit over it and think why am I doing this and not taking it to Him.

    1. Yes the NLT is a refreshing change because I tend to stick to NIV too. I do that a lot (not carry the small things to God right away). I’m trying to get better, and pray about everything. Blessings Manu! ❤️

  3. Thanks Dawn this is one of my go to verses. It is great wording in NLT in don’t worry… pray about everything, which is wonderful advice. I like the ending “thank Him for all he has done.” which is an important but sometimes forgotten part of every prayer. God Bless!

  12. Such an awesome post Dawn! My husband bought the wrong shampoo; but I didn’t make a fuss about it. I just said thank you. I also thanked God for being my provider and one and only source. Do you know a couple of days later that a friend gifted me the very shampoo that I wanted; as well as the conditioner?! God is always taking care of his children…no matter how small or big!
