Protected By Our Lord

Proverbs 2:8, “He guards the paths of the just and protects those who are faithful to him.”

I’ve had this verse on the dash board of my car written on a little piece of paper for the last several years. It brings me comfort to be reminded that as I go about my daily tasks, driving to and from, the Lord is protecting me. When I read it, I usually focus on God’s physical protection, but recently God reminded me that He is also protecting us spiritually, mentally, emotionally and financially. He protects His children in every way.

I admit that there are times I don’t always understand God’s protection, simply because I don’t always understand how He is working in every area of my life. However, I know He loves me. And I also know that the way to remain within His protection is through obedience to His Word.

When life happens, we may have times we feel we are not being protected by God, but it’s during those difficult times where we have to choose to believe that our Heavenly Father is present, and that He is making a way for us. When we make godly choices, it opens the door for us to see God at work, and know Him in an intimate way.

Take comfort in knowing that the Lord is guarding your path and protecting you as you faithfully serve Him. I pray that you continue to rest in God’s sovereignty. Even during times when you don’t understand all the details of how He is working in your life, the lives of those you love, or in the world around you, trust that He has a perfect plan.

  1. Wow Dawn wow. When you desire to please God and grow the little things we will… I had a scripture in my wallet for years now even unto this very moment. I wrote about it in a post a few days ago. Here is the link to it. https://mauriceomalcolm.com/2020/02/18/2-wisdom-keys-for-successful-life/
Dawn we are alive that’s even enough to know we are protected. Remember we are enemies to the devil and he will do anything to destroy us but WE ARE PROTECTED, thank God. God’s ways are past find out so we will not always .understand His doing one thing for sure as you said is that He loves us

  2. Great reminder Dawn.

Wanda has been really struggling with living in the motel these past few weeks, especially since the drug and prostitution gang came back. We have had long talks about this. Your post reminded me of when we lived in PEI and had little contact with the outside world. We were shut up tight and couldn’t go anywhere, much like here at the motel. I knew if we left prematurely we would be in great physical and spiritual danger. Though the confinement was agonizing we were safe. When we did leave and entered homelessness He protected us in every way during our journey, allowing only such troubles to train us but not physically harm us. His protection was in every way and we were (and are) thankful for His continual presence.

In many ways this motel is like that time in PEI. Although we are confined we are safe. That alone is worth it for we know Jesus is protecting us. I will share this with Wanda today. A reminder we both needed to hear.

Thank you again for reminding us of this important fact.

    Blessings to you dear sister!

    1. Thanks Homer for sharing this! It’s amazing that the Lord has protected you even through your trials with homelessness. He is with you and Wanda no matter where you are. As always your stories about God’s faithfulness are an inspiration. So glad this post helped you both. May God’s love continue to keep you and your family! ❤️

  3. I love that you have His Word posted in your car, big sis. I also love the reminder that His protection is all encompassing, esp during the times when it doesn’t feel that way. I’m reminded of the song, “One set of footprints in the sand.”

  4. Lovely reminder Dawn of His protection even at times we don’t feel it. He is always with us. There is something about writing these beautiful verses of scripture and keeping them in places where we can often be reminded and reassured.
    Blessing my dear friend 😊💙

  5. I’ve watched 2 teens suffer from rare cancers lately and this makes me question God’s protection. It’s so hard when it’s kids. However, this verse is such a comfort. I know He protects us even if it’s not the way we think it should be.

    1. Sickness is hard, especially when it’s younger people. It’s so hard to understand. Praying the Lord would give you peace and others who are hurting for these teens. ❤️

    2. His way is always better, even if we can’t see it at the time. My son was bullied A LOT in junior high. As a mom it was painful to send him to school knowing what was ahead. He is the most forgiving person that I have ever met. He has never held a grudge against anyone.

Take heart my friend. God is in control.

  6. When you are struggling with why God is allowing something to happen in your life, stop and thank Him for all the tragedy & sorrow that he has protected you from. It helps to put things in perspective when you realize that He is always working for your good. Sometimes we have to go through dark times to appreciate the blessings we have.

    1. I’m sure there have been many challenges you’ve faced when you’ve traveled abroad. As you said, many times we aren’t even aware of all He has protected us from. We’re truly blessed.

  7. Thanks for reinstating this sis. We are being covered and protected by Him even in areas we do not know of. It’s important we trust Him still even when we seem not to understand some things around us – why He permitted it and all. Because in the end of it all, He is working it all out for our greater good!.

    P.S: How has work been?.
    Loving the experience sis?

    1. You’re welcome little sis. Trusting Him when we don’t understand builds our faith in great ways. As you said, it’s all working out for good.

Work is coming along well. I’m looking forward to learning more about my job. It’s my first time working for a Christian organization, and it’s been a wonderful experience. 🤗

  8. Isn’t a blessing to have God’s word in front of our eyes! I don’t ever want to take it for granted. When I worked outside my home as a traveling pre-school teacher, I taped Scripture to my dash as well. It helped my focus so much throughout the day.
