Seeing The Good

This phrase came to my mind recently, “Seeing the good”. As I pondered it, I thought of how it can be hard to see good when things seem less than good. Our vision is limited when we only look at the natural circumstances that are before us. However, when we look at circumstances through our eyes of faith, we are able to see past the natural and have hope. We can “see” the good that the Lord wants to do in our lives according to the promises in His Word.

Ephesians 3:20 NIV, “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us,”

I was also reminded that when the Lord Himself looks at us, He can see good. He sees all that He can accomplish through us. I can’t imagine the excitement that flows from His heart when He sees us becoming who He desires for us to be. When He sees us taking steps of faith to see past the natural and believe Him for good things, I know He is delighted.

Zephaniah 3:17 NIV, “The LORD your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.”

Our Heavenly Father is proud of us when we work to fulfill His purpose for our lives. Sometimes we can feel discouraged if things are not happening as fast as we would like. But our Father makes everything beautiful in its time (Ecclesiastes 3:11). Even now, there is beauty in the process as we are growing day by day. If you struggle to see the good in where God has you today, don’t lose hope. Embrace His promises and choose to believe that what He says is true. And also remember that…

“Those who hope in the Lord will never be put to shame.” Psalm 25:3

Keep “seeing the good” through your eyes of faith. And wait expectantly for God to move on your behalf!

  1. “When we look at circumstances through our eyes of faith, we are able to see past the natural and have hope”.

    It’s difficult to stay unmoved in the face of contrary situations. However, by faith, we can see what God is doing about it and stay assured that He’s going to make the crooked way straight.

  3. God is always good. Jesus came to save us because of God’s goodness, mercy, grace and love. Jesus suffered in this life but kept his focus on The Father and his mission because he knew what was there for him after his crucifixion. When we have hard times, keeping our focus on The Father and on Jesus helps us to remember whatever we experience is not forever.

  4. Circumstances change but the love and care of our wonderful Father never does. He sings and dances over us with joy. He takes such delight in us! He always gives us hope despite how things may look.

    1. You’re welcome Tina! It’s special to be able to see how God has worked and is working in our lives. Although there is still more progress needed, we can rest and know He loves us right where we are.

  6. Great post Dawn! Such a good reminder and such an applicable message for our day and age. I find this often applies to people as well. A while ago my friend shared a quote, I’m not sure who to give credit to but it went like this: “Anyone can find the dirt on someone, be the one who finds the gold.” Those words have been on my mind ever since and they are so true. Each person has at least on good thing about them, usually many good things. But we are often so stuck on picking out the one bad thing, that we forget how much treasure is there!

  7. This post is beautiful. Ephesians 3:20 had been at the forefront of my devotional time. Thank you for reminding me of our good no matter what is happening in our lives. I thank God for using you to shine light and equipping all of for our daily lives.
