When All Else Seems To Fail

We’ve all had those times in life where things didn’t work out the way we had planned. It seems like everything you have tried in a certain situation has not succeeded, or you are in a season of trusting God for the next steps because in the natural there seems to be no more solutions.

It can be tempting to want to give up during these frustrating times. It can be difficult to admit, but we sometimes even wonder why a God who loves us would allow certain things to happen in our lives or in the world around us. However, it’s knowing that God loves us that gives us strength to keep persevering. He has a way of revealing His love and light in even the darkest times.

The reality is that we are not going to always know everything or understand everything. Things will not always make sense to our natural minds. I heard a minister once say that if we are going to serve God wholeheartedly, there will be times we have to be comfortable with “not knowing“. He reveals things He wants us to know in His time and in His way, and certain things He may choose to leave a mystery to us.

One of the many joys of walking with Jesus is that He is never void of solutions. Everything that we encounter is part of God’s greater plan. Nothing that we go through is ever wasted, because He promises to work all things together for our good when we love Him and are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28).

When all else seems to fail…

We can be thankful that Jesus Christ is always the same:

Hebrews 13:8 NLT, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.”

We can be thankful that we serve a God who is all wise and all knowing:

1 Timothy 1:17 KJB, “Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.”

1 John 3:20 NLT, “Even if we feel guilty, God is greater than our feelings, and he knows everything.”

We can be thankful He promises to supply our needs:

Philippians 4:19 ESV, “And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”

We can be thankful the Word of God will stand forever.

Isaiah 40:8 NLT, “The grass withers and the flowers fade, but the word of our God stands forever.”

When all else seems to fails it just means we have finally come to the end of ourselves and we get to see the glory of the Lord revealed in our lives. The hope that we have in Jesus will never leave us empty.

Romans 10:11 NKJV, “For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.”

When all else seems to fail keep trusting Jesus one day at a time. He is faithful and will never fail you.

  1. Love the post Dawn. When we don’t understand the delay or the why, we have to trust and know that He is a good God and He will look after us – maybe not necessarily in the way we expect but He will never forsake us. Being purposefully grateful helps to refocus on Him and His promises.

  2. Amen 🙏🏿. His promises still remain. We may have our plans but it is the Lord’s purposes for our lives that prevail. When we learn to lean on Him, we find grace and strength for every season. Our trials are not bigger than our God. He is bigger but it takes faith to believe that even amidst our uncertainties, He is still God who is working all things together for our good and for His glory.

  3. I remember a pastor that I used to listen to say something to the effect of ‘ I don’t want to worship a god that I completely and always understand for that’s boring and I would end up just worshipping myself. I want to worship God that is smarter and wiser than me’. So yes, Even though it’s hard sometimes, I’m ok with not always understanding why something happens in life.

  4. No matter what things happen that are out of our control, but we don’t have to allow it to “move” us. Having free will people inflict pain, life gives us horrific storms and our own choices causes us suffering. God still loves us no matter what. He loves us so much He corrects us just like a loving Father does, but we can rest assured that He has not abandoned you. All things work together for the good, even if we can’t see it right now.

    1. True! The pain we endure is often a consequence of our own choices or other outside influences beyond our control. I’m glad he still uses it all for good. Thanks Kim!

  6. Your post reminds me of Jeremiah 9:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” We don’t know God’s plans or why thing happen. However, we know he works in all things for our good. We just have to have patience and faith in Him.

  7. God understands that if I knew too much about what’s coming that I would try to steamline the process, organize volunteers, make flyers & in the process screw it all up. I am so glad the He is smarter than me & protects me from myself.

  8. Jesus is always with us and working n our behalf. If everything is failing, a question I ask is if a person prayed first. I ask myself that too.

Sometimes things fall apart because God is redirecting us.

  9. “The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our sons forever, that we may observe all the words of this law.” Deuteronomy‬ ‭29:29‬ When I want to know why and the answers don’t come, this verse gives me comfort and confidence in God who loves me and who always does what’s best for me💚
