When A Hard Place Is The Right Place

Isaiah 43:2 NIV, “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.”

Have you ever found yourself in a very hard place in life, where you must endure difficulties that are beyond your control? You can’t change things, or take short cuts. There is no way out, all you can do is go through. You must keep persevering and trust God to sustain you. You must rely on Him to supply you with what you need along the way.

Even though there are things you just don’t understand, remember God is with you as you go through the deep waters, rushing rivers, and raging fires. He has you exactly where you are supposed to be. It’s a hard place, however it’s the right place, because God has anointed you for the road you are traveling. God sees your faithfulness, so don’t give up! Keep praying, keep hoping, keep believing, and keep expecting!

God’s grace is always sufficient for the tough roads we must travel (2 Corinthians 12:9). No matter the nature of our problems, He is more than able to carry us through. Often times the crosses we must bear are part of our growth process. They mature us and enable us to fulfill the calling that God has on our lives.

James 1:4 NIV, “Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”

We can always trust God to take us to the next level at the right time. We don’t have to feel that He has forgotten about our needs, or that He has abandon us in the midst of our trials. God is with us in the hard places, working all things together for our good (Romans 8:28). Whenever we struggle, we can look back at our experiences and see how God used them to bring us to where we are today.

We can release fear, anxiety, and doubt, and instead we can receive His peace, strength, and love. He has a good plan for us, even in the hard places of our lives (Jeremiah 29:11).

  1. When we have to go through the hard place we tend to learn and grow the most as we depend on Him and cling to Him. The assurance of His presence with us through it all gives us strength to go on.

  2. The hard places are indeed apart of the process. It’s quite interesting because I was having a similar conversation with someone from church yesterday. So many days I’m in awe of God. Other days, I’m just on the bench line trusting God to make way in certain areas for me. With each new day, I’m learning to cling unto Him. His grace is sufficient and He who know the beginning of a thing to the end, surely knows what lies before me. It’s a matter of trusting and praising our way through the uncertainties. May God help us to continually fix our eyes on Him 🙏🏿. Thank you for sharing Dawn 😊

  3. A powerful and absolutely timely message, even with the picture…Thank You Lord for all of the nudges in this message and thank You Lord for the message!!

“You can’t change things, or take short cuts. There is no way out, all you can do is go through. You must keep persevering and trust God to sustain you. You must rely on Him to supply you with what you need along the way.”

So many amazing assurances flood my soul as I read this message, particularly the peace of God which encompasses my heart and mind in Christ Jesus! I could hear the voice of God reminding me that turning around isn’t an option, and abandoning what He’s used to get me here, I cannot turn away from.

sis, ‘leaving the way in which He’s led me to this point is a way that I couldn’t even begin to do, so God says to press onward!

Whew Lord, there are some lyrics that come to mind, “nobody told me that the road would be easy….. But if I may add a few, “nobody told me that it would take this long either….But God who is rich in mercy, strength, grace, and truth, will sustain us for the long haul…

Again I say thank You Lord for this message and for the messenger… And the picture, whew, just another nudge. May the words and images of our blogs be God breathed, inspired, and anointed!!

“And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God….Luke 9:62

    1. Yes brother, we have to keep moving forward in faith! We can rest assured that God can see our whole journey and He will never leave us alone. We can also be excited that He is building our character through the hard places so we will be equipped to handle the blessings He has in store now and in the future. And also equipped to handle any other obstacles that come our way.

You’re welcome and thanks for reading! I’m glad you were blessed by the message and the picture. I agree with you in prayer that God would continue to bless the words and images of our blogs.

  4. Thank you Lord! Dawn this is a beautifully penned and encouraging devotional. There is no thing to hard for God. He is peace in the storm. We can plug in, put our trust in him, as we journey through those hard places. The Lord promises to be with us. It is comforting to know, we are not alone. Our faith is fine tuned, we are comforted and made strong.

  5. Jesus told us that in this life we will have trouble but the cheer up because he has overcome the world.

Knowing Jesus does not exempt us from hardship and often as we go through the hardship trusting Jesus, he works through that to draw others to him

  7. Yesterday I said the words: “I give up,” because of the pressing and hard place that I was in; but deep down within, I knew that I wasn’t giving up. Thank you for sharing this post Dawn. Yours and two other posts this evening have REALLY encouraged me. God bless you!

  8. Being in a “hard place” is one of the most difficult places we can find ourselves. Its in the times the Devil tries to make us lose hope, strip us of our joy and cause us to feel worthless. But, its in the hard places where we grow.

  9. The hard places prepare us for the work God has us to do. Before Jesus began His ministry, the Holy Spirit drove Him into the wilderness to fast and be tempted. Before the Israelites entered the Promised Land, they stayed in the wilderness for 2 years at Mt. Sinai. Then, they were supposed to enter the Promised Land but chose not to believe God. Before Joseph became second to the Pharoah, he spent time in the pit, as a slave, and as a prisoner.

Rejoice in the hard places and look forward to what God has planned for you!
