Power In Weakness

2 Corinthians 12:9-10 NIV, “But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”

It doesn’t come naturally to boast about our weaknesses, because weakness isn’t usually associated with strength. But in Christ, it is. The hardships we face, and the temptations we must resist, are opportunities for the power of Christ to illuminate our lives. His power working in us, allows us to accomplish things that we cannot accomplish on our own.

Through Him, we are able to remain faithful and work to fulfill the purposes He has for us. His power brings life to situations that seem dead. When we are weary, He makes us strong. In Christ, it’s okay to come to the end of ourselves, because where our strength ends, His strength begins. His grace is sufficient for our every need.

  3. This is such a powerful message, Dawn which was captured beautifully. God’s strength is made perfect during the test and trials of life we encounter. It is His strength alone which causes us to triumphant. Pressing into Him, ignites our faith and releases God’s power. makes us strong

  8. The kingdom of God always looks upside down and faulty from the perspective of this world. However when we look at the kingdom of this world from the kingdom of God perspective it looks upside down. This is the major reason why a walk of faith looks so foolish to others. Only those that are walking with God in faith can see, and understand, what God is doing. To those who aren’t in step with Him our faith looks very foolish indeed. Only when we are emptied of ‘self’, weak and broken, can His strength be perfected in us, not before.

    1. Thank you brother Homer! We really need God’s strength to press pass the pressure of looking foolish to the world. To follow God wholeheartedly we have to be ok with being different.

        Throughout scripture we see God using imperfect people for the sake of bringing His will to pass…Sometimes, I wonder why God chose the people He did, but His choices showed he didn’t call the popular, wealthy or successful to further His agenda.

        From an outside perspective, we can see it doesn’t matter about the outward appearance because God sees the heart.

        Whenever we feel we aren’t worthy enough, remember God uses flawed people to share about His love and goodness. In Him we find restoration and healing. We’ve all heard, ” He God doesn’t call the qualified, He qualifies the called. As Kingdom Citizens, we should always remember that the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead is the same Spirit that lives on the inside of us.

      2. Yes! He is the One who qualifies us for the mission He has for us. We don’t have to be perfect and know it all. He will equip us with what we need, and put the right people in our path. Thanks Kim for the encouraging words. 😊

  13. For several weeks this scripture kept showing up. It was in my devotionals and Bible studies at least 5 times one week and showed up 3 or 4 more times the following week. I even wrote a blog post about it. Going through times in our lives when we feel called by God to do something we’re not prepared for, this scripture is what gave me the strength I needed to step up in my church. Thanks for this reminder!

      1. Thanks. I never would have dreamed to be where I’m at right now. But I have had to believe that God would provide the skills that I didn’t have on my own to fulfill the role I’m in as the worship leader right now. It is getting easier.

      2. Wonderful! Worship leader is a great responsibility, but you can do all things through Christ who gives you strength. Glad it’s getting easier. Singing is a nice gift to have. How long have you been singing?

      3. I started out playing the bass guitar. I’d never played before, but I asked how I could help and that’s what the worship leader said he needed the most. I have been playing for 5 years now. Singing for about a year and worship leader for about 5 months now. I’ve relied on God heavily during this whole time!

  15. There is power in weakness! I never look at it from this perspective, but when I read the verse again I realized that it is saying exactly that. No wonder Paul boasted about his weakness and the thorn in his flesh. This verse is packed with revelations and I am looking forward to read more of your revelations from this passage.     1. It’s amazing that when we are weak, In Christ Jesus we are strong!! It’s good to know we can rely on Him. We don’t have to do things in our own strength. I always wondered what Paul’s thorn in the flesh was?? 🤔

      1. Many people wondered what Paul’s thorn in the flesh was, but it is not a mystery. It is in the Bible. He said a messenger of Satan always came to torment him. That was the thorn in the flesh. Before Paul was converted he use to persecute the Christians. After his conversion, a messenger of Satan constantly accused him and reminded him of his past sins. (Satan is the accuser of the brethren). The Lord refused to remove this thorn to keep him humble and to remind him of his weakness that he could not do what he was doing without the grace, mercy and strength of the Lord.

  18. I love this passage! It’s a wonderful reminder to rely solely on Jehovah God and he will take care of us. “Throw your burden on Jehovah, And he will sustain you. Never will he allow the righteous one to fall.” (Psalms 55:22)
    As imperfect humans we want to be our own savior at times. But we are so much more powerful when we allow God to take over. Throughout the scriptures we’re told to throw our burdens on him. Not hand them over lightly but throw them. He’s ready to take on whatever is weighing us down.
