Psalm 120:1 NLT, “ I took my troubles to the LORD; I cried out to him, and he answered my prayer.”
Yesterday I had brunch with a friend from church. During our conversation, we started discussing how it can be tough as a Christian when we pray continuously but don’t always understand how God is working in our lives.
We sometimes have questions or prayers that seem to go unanswered. She told me that she’s learning to just give all her concerns to the Lord, and trust that He is working all things together for her good (Romans 8:28). We both agreed that even though we don’t always have all the answers at the present time, we can look back and see how God has always been faithful. He’s always provided exactly what we need, when we need it. He’s never late.
Last night, I was going through some blog posts that I saved and came across this one from my big brother Matt @ Jesusluvsall: “When God Answers Prayer”. It reminds us that God never forgets us. He is our sovereign Lord, who is always on time with the answers we need. Be encouraged as you read it! And keep trusting God as you wait for answers!
God always hears us. Be encouraged & trust. Sometimes it’s immediate, sometimes it’s waiting. Good reminders.

Amen 🙏🏿. I can so relate to this post. I truly believe that God hears our prayers. He may not answer the way we ought for Him to answer but He hears us. Our ways are not His ways. A few years ago, I wrote in a small journal of mine about a few things I wanted to do. Little did I know that I wrote that I wanted to go on a mission trip and visit an orphanage. This was five years ago. Last year, my church announced that they were going to a mission trip to an orphanage in Uganda. While going through my college backpack, I came across that journal and opened it. I couldn’t believe that in 2013, I wrote that I wanted to go to a mission trip and an orphanage and after many years, it happened. God knew the desires of my heart and his heart beats for orphans. It was a challenge going because I didn’t have a job but God made a way. I got a part-time job in order to fund for the trip and a few people aided for me to go. God is faithful. He is still in the business of answering prayers. I’ve got to the point in my walk with God where I just want His will to be done. This surely requires a life of surrender daily unto the Father. It isn’t easy but it is part of the journey. Great post Dawn 😊

Thanks for sharing your experience. It’s very encouraging. This is more proof that God hears and answers prayers. He also gives us the desires of our hearts as we delight in Him. It’s so amazing how the Lord made a way for you to go on the trip. I’m glad you had the journal to keep a record of your prayer request. This gives me hope that I will one day travel more. Thanks for the inspiration Karen. 😊

It’s never easy when the Lord takes longer than our timeframe to answer our prayers or even at times when He says no. Most times I have to remind myself of the love of God, I have to remind myself that because He loves me so very much, He will always have my best interest at heart. Great post, my friend

Waiting can be hard at times, can even test our faith. It’s especially hard because we don’t know what the outcome will be. The prayer “seemingly” taking too long can cause us to become impatient, discouraged, to worry and to even question if God cares.
The Bible describes some specific things to do while waiting, the Word of God lets us know that waiting is not a passive activity in which we do nothing. Waiting produces the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22). It also draws us closer to God and others who are watching us (Matthew 5:16).
I can relate to this blog post. I have felt like my prayers were just bouncing off the ceiling. There are desires I’ve been praying years about, but God has seemed silent. I learn to be content and wait patiently by remembering that the Cross and the Word that states if I pray according to His will he hears me (1 John 5:14). God has been faithful and He’s answered my prayers of the past, it’s often been in ways that I did not anticipate.
Waiting is inevitable, whether in a long line at the grocery store, or waiting for a loved one to come to Christ. When we lay our requests before Him, it’s by faith that we wait allowing God to work a good work in us.

Thank you Kim. This is so uplifting. You’re right, as we wait we are growing in the Lord and getting closer to Him. He is working things out and will answer in sometimes unexpected ways. ❤️

A wonderful encouragement for all of us to press in all the more when it seems we’re not getting answers to our prayers. I have the privilege to be leading a small group on prayer this month. The second session is titled: Prayer: Is anybody listening? I will include the link should you or any of your readers care to have a look.
Thank you and abundant blessings to you,

Amen! I was just speaking to some friends about this. The hardest part is trusting that God knows what’s best for us and patiently waiting for it. We can’t doubt that he will act in our behalf. James 1:6-8 says, “But let him keep asking in faith, not doubting at all, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven by the wind and blown about. In fact, that man should not expect to receive anything from Jehovah; he is an indecisive man, unsteady in all his ways.” The more we trust that Jehovah God will take care of us and acknowledge our limitations, the more he exults us. It takes humility and we have to give our problems completely over to God with absolute faith he will take care of it. Also, we serve a God of style. How many times have we needed something by 5pm and he provides it at 4:59pm? Always on time and never late. Glory be to Jehovah!

Thanks for sharing these verses and your thoughts Heatherjo. I’ve been pondering prayer a lot lately. God has been teaching me not to be double minded. I need to pray and believe. God definitely has his perfect timing. By 4:59 many times we are panicking, but then at 5:00 we see there was no need to because God already had a plan to work things out for our good. Lol.

That’s right! Trust that Jehovah already has his plan in working motion. Matthew 6:33,34 says keep seeking first the Kingdom and everything we need will be provided. Don’t be anxious. Remember, we as imperfect humans do all we can for our children. God is perfect and provides using his Holy Spirit to provide for us. That’s the same power used to create the universe! There is nothing he can’t do.
