Take Heart As You Wait

Psalm 27:14 NLT, “Wait patiently for the LORD. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the LORD.”

I can remember a time when I never wanted to wait on the Lord. When I would pray, I wanted immediate answers and immediate comfort from whatever difficulty I was facing. I didn’t care much about God’s purposes. I didn’t take time to think about the fact that He had to work in my heart, and or the hearts of other people before the answers to certain prayers could come. When we pray, we should wait expectantly like the Psalmist did…

Psalm 5:3 NIV, “In the morning, LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly.

Although there are times answers come quickly, there are also times when we must wait. I’ve come to understand that part of being committed to Jesus Christ means that we will often have to wait. He freely gives us His love, strength, and peace so that we can stand firm while we wait.

Being willing to wait on Him, is a testimony of our faith and trust in Him. It shows that we honor Him, and realize that His understanding far outweighs our own. He is eternal, therefore He can see way beyond the surface of the issues we face.

With the help of the Holy Spirit, we are able to learn to wait patiently. Not because we have all the answers, but because we know our God is the Answer. He is perfect and He is just.

Deuteronomy 32:4 NIV, “He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he.”

  1. Okay Dawn…I hear you loud and clear giggles…

    Wait patiently. Learn it Deandra.
We don’t have all the answers.
Jesus is the answer. And He also has all other answers.
    He is perfect.
    He is just.
    I add… He is also good 🤗🙌🏽

  2. This reminds me of Isaiah 40:31 that says they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings as eagles, they shall run, and not be wear, and they shall walk, and not faint. There is a reward for waiting for God’s time. Even though many times we get tired of waiting. We just have to learn to be patient. Thanks for sharing

  3. Waiting on the Lord is not like waiting in line at the supermarket. Waiting in line is boring. Waiting on the Lord means we can continue to serve him, experience him in our lives, and enjoy fellowship with others while we wait.

    1. Matt, which supermarket do you go to…lol. Mine is not boring…it’s aggravating as hell. It’s like going to the “speedy” checkout and the person in front of you has gone over the sign limit by a full shopping cart or two.

I get the part of the continuing to serve while we wait so patiently for things to come to fruition. It’s taken years for hearts to change in the lives of people I pray for. It is awesome to have fellowship with others, like this community/family we are so blessed with while we are waiting and they encourage us so much!

  4. Positive reminder that waiting helps us to be patient and grow in the Word while building our relatiinship with God. He has already deposited the blessings it is only for us to be properly prepared so that we can make our withdrawal. Thank you and have a blessed weekend.

    1. Great point…He has already deposited the blessings. He is preparing us for the appointed time. There is so much going on as we wait that we are not even aware of. You’re welcome! Have a blessed weekend too. ❤️

  5. So true. I feel like “waiting on God,” is just as you say, He is working on the heart(s) involved. I think it is extremely gracious of Him to allow us to say we are waiting on Him, when the reverse is true. Waiting isn’t for the faint of heart though, and what helps me in the “waiting” is to remind myself that this is opportunity for transformation as my Father works on my heart. Blessings sweet Dawn, and thank you for sharing ♥

    1. You’re welcome Jacquie! I agree, that is extremely gracious of Him. He’s eternal and knows all. He’s always known us and had plans for us, even before we existed. So in reality, He is waiting on us! Amazing, thanks for sharing! 💛

  6. Waiting is not easy and can really test us. But God gives us the patience and strength to wait in His timing. Waiting is not necessarily an idle time but an active time to use our faith, trust and service for God.

  7. Very true sis. It can really seem a while in the course of waiting but focusing on the latter result and what He is set to do and achieve in us while we wait will give us strength to hold on.

Thanks for sharing this sis. ❤

Especially don’t worry…trust God. Thank you Dawn for the post.❤

  11. Most of us despise waiting. I admit It’s a struggle for me. Yet, God’s Word tells us to wait on Him. Most of the time we have a negative emotion about waiting because we don’t have the proper perspective.

    1. Yes true. I always try and remind myself God is actively working things out for my good while I wait, even though I don’t understand all the details.
